Micheal Jackson's Death

by Lonnie Griggs November 12th, 2021

When being accused of four counts of molestation, and having to move multiple times due to excessive news-press and paparazzi, it may seem as if suicide would be a way out, correct? In June of 2005, Michael Jackson was found dead in his California home due to cardiac arrest, after being given an extreme dosage of Propofol that was administered by his personal doctor to help with his struggle with insomnia. As well as insomnia, Jackson also struggled with vitiligo, which is a condition in which skin loses its pigment. The pop singer had three non-adoptive children, 13 number-one hits on Billboard, and was in a place he wanted to be, so why would he take his own life? (“King of Pop”1). Let’s see how Michael Jackson really died and if his personal doctor, took his life.

On August 29th, 1958, Michael Joseph Jackson was born in Gary, Indiana, as the last son/family member of the Jackson’s (Michael Jackson 1). Jackson was a gifted person and well-loved childhood actor. In 1966, Michael Jackson’s talent of singing was quickly recognized by his father, Joe Jackson, who joined him alongside his brothers: Sigmund, Tito, Jermaine, and Marlon, as a member and lead singer of the Jackson 5. Jackson was a musical and creative individual, and while alongside his brothers, the group were almost impenetrable. Prior to leaving the Jacksons, Jackson had made his debut album: “Off the Wall (1979),” which sold more than 20 million copies—Jackson’s solo career had shown more of his disco and energetic style than the Jacksons ever could. In 1982, Jackson’s hit album “Thriller” was released, resulting in at least 65 million copies sold! “Not only was it the biggest commercial release of all-time, it was critically acclaimed and won 8 Grammy awards, including 1984’s Album of the Year.” (35 Fun Facts About Michael Jackson’s Thriller Album 1) Jackson decided to leave the group to focus on his solo career in 1984, though Jackson had the weight of the song group off his back, the scars of it remained, as he later expressed in 1993 (Why did Michael Jackson Leave the Jackson 5 1). Jackson’s lyrics and musicality sets him apart from other musicians worldwide, which continues to go unnoticed.

As early as 1993, four young boys associated with Michael Jackson came forward with sexual abuse allegations, ranging from ages 7 and 12. These men included Jordie Chandler, Jason Francia, Gavin Arvizo, Wade Robson, and later, Jimmy Safechuck (10 Undeniable Facts About the Michael Jackson Sexual Abuse Allegations 1). Leaving Neverland is an HBO Documentary that documents these cases and trials. In 2003, Jackson is arrested on his ranch for child molestation charges. In 2005, Jackson is acquitted of all criminal charges, which is not too long after Jackson’s case goes to trial. (Michael Jackson: A Quarter-Century of Sexual Abuse Allegations).

To wrap it all up, Michael Jackson was a driven man who made primarily just actions. In an online article, “Jackson claimed he had no childhood, only work, which led to his lifelong focus on children and childhood.” (30 Real Facts about Michael Jackson’s Childhood and How He Became the King of Pop 1) The previous statement proves how motivated and ambitious Jackson was.

The first conspiracy is that Jackson’s death was suicide due to rumors. Jackson was a well-known pop star; his music had a hold on people young and old, but there were some things that he did not have control of. Jackson had been accused of molestation multiple times although people are unsure of when these acts might have happened or if it was his fault that he was accused of such monstrosity (“10 Undeniable Facts About the Michael Jackson Sexual Abuse

Allegations” 1). Once rumors about Jackson started floating around, he was unbothered and thought it was a way to keep things “interesting” (1). Jackson thought all was well until someone started a rumor that he molested his Pepsi-commercial child co-star, James Safechuck (1). After the first accusation of child molestation, this was followed by three more boys claiming Jackson had touched them (1). In September of 1993, a family filed a lawsuit against Jackson; his legal team had thoughts that it was an attempt to exploit the pop star for $20 million (1). Through these stressful times, Jackson took matters into his own hands. After a little over a decade of fighting the lawsuit, the pop star decided to settle the lawsuit with more than $20 million, but he still denied that he had committed these “wrongful acts” (“10 Undeniable Facts About the Michael Jackson Sexual Abuse Allegations” 1). It is likely that the stress of allegations and rumors led Jackson to a death by suicide.

For our second conspiracy, we have another alleged suicide but this time, due to his childhood (“Why did Michael Jackson Leave the Jackson 5” 1). Jackson did leave once his solo career took off, but there was more to it. While in the Jackson 5, Jackson was abused for such as messing up a note, missing a dance move, or being wrong in general, this caused problems for the reason: if one messed up, everyone did, which meant everyone had to be punished. In an arranged interview with Oprah Winfrey, Jackson expressed how his father’s care for his children, and that you should never judge a book by its cover.

Jackson was afraid of his father, the sheer sight of him made him nauseous; it was not just him; the rest of the family suffered the same fate. Some of his children, solely Michael, were open with speaking of Joe Jackson’s “care” of the boys (“Why did Michael Jackson Leave the Jackson 5” 1). Jackson claimed that his father was abusive, he wanted everything to be done correctly—Oprah adds: “If you didn’t do it right, he would tear you up, really get you” (1). With all this information, people still believe that he committed suicide due to his family trauma, but there is proof that he did not die for this reason: Jackson had said he’d forgiven his father (1). Although he had all the trauma and scars from such a monstrous childhood, he established a memorial to his father, he dubbed it: “Joe Jackson Day” in one of his famous homes, the Neverland Ranch (1). With that, Jackson assumed the drama would be easier to handle, only to find out that paparazzi were the least of his problems.

This is the third and final conspiracy of the beloved pop star. Due to previous events, Jackson had insomnia and decided to go to his doctor about such a problem. Doctor Conrad Murray, former personal doctor of Michael Jackson himself, was charged for the murder of his patient. Murray opened a private practice in 1999 and was later hired by Jackson as a personal physician for his 2009 tour (“Conrad Murray” 1) The two first interacted in 2006, one of Jackson’s children were sick. The problem was unknown, so he contacted Murray; after that, Jackson decided for him to be his personal doctor and a friend. Jackson had also hired a nurse/nutritionist and asked her about the drug propofol, her name was Cherilyn Lee. The nurse refused to give Jackson the drug while he begged for it, she stated “The problem with you telling me you want to be knocked out, is you might not wake up the next morning. You don’t want that” and though she wouldn’t give it to him, Jackson knew who would (“Conrad Murray” 1). Jackson paid Murray approximately $150,000 a month, though it was supposedly a friendship, it seems there was a complicated reliance on prescribed drugs (“Conrad Murray” 1). Later, of course, Jackson died from an accidental overdose: he died from a high dosage of acute propofol,

enough to put a horse to sleep (“What is Propofol—and How Could It Had Killed Michael Jackson” 1). Jackson was treated for insomnia, and the drug was the right prescription, but why give it to him in the first place? Not only was propofol given, but police also discovered more than 20 prescriptions in his California home (“Conrad Murray” 1). Jackson used these drugs as a concoction as his “milk” or “liquid sleep” (1). Murray, knowing he could have been addicted to the drug, disregarded the fact, and continued doing his job. After the finding of the drugs, Murray was taken into custody, and was later found guilty of manslaughter, and was sentenced to four years in prison in November 2011. In October 2013, Murray was released from Los Angeles jail, after serving only half his sentence (“Conrad Murray” 1).

With all the collected evidence, it is not a hard choice to know which conspiracy is right and how Jackson died:

1.) Jackson committed suicide due to stress from alleged sexual accusations/molestation.

2.) Jackson committed suicide due to his childhood trauma with his father.

3.) Jackson had overdosed due to a high dosage prescription that was given by his personal doctor.

Jackson could have killed himself due to the sexual accusations, knowing people saw him as a monster and could not process with that thought. Jackson tried to be a good father to his children and knew he could not let them down.

There is evidence where Jackson did not commit suicide due to his forgiveness/gesture towards his father. Jackson knew he could move on with his life, knowing his children trauma would build him to become a strong person and an even stronger singer.

Finally, Jackson was murdered by his personal doctor, though it was an accidental overdose, Murray still gave him the prescription knowing that it could possibly kill him. Too much, though Jackson’s case is closed, it is evident that Jackson died by the murder of Conrad Murray.
